Reception [ ] The Allmusic review by Al Campbell awarded the album 4 stars and stated: "Ervin's inspired exploratory tenor flights are consistently stirring, punctuated with piercing blues. The Trance delivers further documentation of Ervin's endless tenor inventiveness".[2]
