The Winner Twins, (c. 1995)[1] Brittany and Brianna, are identical twin science fiction authors best known for The Strand Series of books, and the fact they were recognized as prodigies at the age of twelve by The World Council for Gifted & Talented Children.[2] Brittany was diagnosed blind and visually impaired in 2017 by awakening one day having no vision.

Their first novel The Strand Prophecy received favorable reviews and won several awards; including an IPPY Award[3] and nominations for the Benjamin Franklin Award for both Best New Author and for Best Young Adult Fiction,[4] and was inducted into the National Accelerated Reader Program.[5] Strand Book II - Extinction's Embrace was released in 2011.

In the educational field, The Twins have received three Pinnacle Awards for excellence in teaching from the Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration (CILC) in 2012, 2013 and 2014.[6][7]

The Twins are also contributing writers for Penguin's educational publication, "Now Write! Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror: Speculative Genre Exercises from Today's Best Writers and Teachers" alongside authors such as Harlan Ellison, Ramsey Campbell, Piers Anthony and William F. Nolan.[8]

Biography[]

2014 Wonder Con Panel Winner Twins

Brianna and Brittany were born eleven weeks prematurely. They spent much of their early childhood in and out of hospitals. By the end of fourth grade they both were diagnosed with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and diminished visual acuity and tracking, along with college-level verbal skills.

The Strand Prophecy is the first book of The Strand Series, a story chronicling a rapid evolutionary cycle on Earth with its lead character living as both a scientist and as a superhero. The second book, Strand Book II Extinction's Embrace, continues the story with the unexplained, northbound migration of mankind.

Brittany and Brianna are the co-founders and CEO and CFO respectively of a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, called Motivate 2 Learn.[9] They created the organization to promote youth literacy and education and to inspire children with learning disabilities like dyslexia, ADD, and ADHD.

The twins were featured presenters at the first annual Geekie Awards in August, 2013[10] and special guests of honor at BayCon 2015's Women of Wonder.[11]
