Thergaon (Marathi: थेरगाव )is a suburb of the city of Pimpri-Chinchwad,. Thergaon is a neighbourhood in the city of Pune, India.

History[]

Long back it was a rural village before the growth of the city included it in the metropolitan area.[1] Today the locality is a well developed one with many large projects having been constructed within its limits as well as having several shops and market, shopping malls, marriage halls, hotels, restaurants, hospitals and public parks.

Economy[]

Pudumjee Pulp and Paper Mills runs a large paper mill there.[2][3] The suburb has a municipal park called Bapujibuwa Park.[4]

Geography[]

Thergaon is located in Pimpri Chinchwad city. The river Pavana flows north of Thergaon. To the east of Thergaon are Kalewadi, Rahatani, to the west Tathawade, to the south Wakad, and to the north Chinchwad, . As Thergaon is in Pimpri Chinchwad, industrial, economic and educational development is taking place on a large scale.

Transportation[]

Thergaon is well connected to other parts of the city by public transport. Pimpri railway station is the nearest railway station to Thergaon and Pune Junction is the largest station available. Pune Airport is the nearest airport. Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) operates the public transport system in the area. Also Rainbow BRTS bus service is available in Thergaon area on Sangvi - Kiwale and Kalewadi Fata - Dehu Alandi Road.

Recreation[]

Laxmibai Barne Udyan is another big park in the area with children's playing area, a joggers track and also meditation center and amphitheater.[5] Shubhankar Heights from Shiv Constructions and Ivana from Lakshmi Properties are among the several big housing projects in the area. A government hospitals is run by Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.[6]

The prime area in the locality is Dange Chowk. Several restaurants and hotels are located around it. Aundh-Ravet road passes through Dange Chowk and a beautiful flyover has been built over it.[7][8] Dange Chowk is on the Aundh-Ravet BRTS Route and is well connected by road to all parts of the Pune city. In Thergaon near Dange Chowk there is a public park called Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park which has a famous statue of Shivaji Maharaj in black stone.[9]
