Thirantha Puthagam (transl. Open book) is a 2017 Indian Tamil-language murder mystery short film directed by Vignesh Kumar who stars along with Sanchana Natarajan. The film received positive reviews upon release.[2][3][4] The film is inspired from the novel The Mystery of the Secret Room by Enid Blyton.[5]

Plot[]

A man is murdered and his son, who was in the same house as the father during the murder, is sent to jail.[1]

Production[]

The film is directed by Vignesh Kumar, who worked as an assistant to S. Shankar for 2.0.[6] Kumar had previously directed the short film Facebook Neenga Nallavara Illa Kettavara (transl. Facebook: Are you a good or bad person?).[6][7] Initially, this film was not accepted at film festivals due to its runtime of around forty minutes; however, the short later received several awards.[6] The film received two-hundred-and-fifty thousand views upon release and has 1.2 million views as of September 2020.[6][5] After the success of this short, Vignesh Kumar went on to direct several other shorts.[8]
