After the announcement of the resignation of Esperanza Aguirre on 17 September 2012 as regional president,[8] her right-hand Ignacio González became the acting president, presiding over the first council of government on 20 September.[9] He was formally invested as president by the regional legislature on 26 September, with the subsequent inauguration taking place a day later[10] (his ministers assumed office on 28 September).[11]
