Thomas Kaminski (born 23 October 1992) is a Belgian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for EFL Championship club Blackburn Rovers.

Club career[]

Germinal Beerschot[]

Kaminski debuted in the Belgian top league for Germinal Beerschot in May 2009. He became the starting goalkeeper in the 2010–11 season.

OH Leuven[]

In August 2011, Kaminski signed a one-year contract with Oud-Heverlee Leuven.[3]

Anderlecht[]

He also signed an agreement which tied him to Anderlecht at the end of that season.[4] He played his first match for Anderlecht on 25 August 2012 against Oud-Heverlee Leuven. In summer 2015 Kaminski was loaned by F.C. Copenhagen.[5]

Blackburn Rovers[]

On 26 August 2020, Kaminski joined Blackburn Rovers on a two-year deal with the option of a further 12 months, for an undisclosed fee.[6]

International career[]

Due to his Polish origin and having grown up mostly in Belgium, Kaminski is available to play for Belgium or Poland.

Shortly before the 2014 FIFA World Cup Kaminski was called up to the senior Belgium team as cover to Sammy Bossut after Thibaut Courtois was rested and Koen Casteels, Silvio Proto and Simon Mignolet had picked up injuries.[7] Kaminski was on the bench as Belgium beat Luxembourg 5–1 in a friendly,[8] but the match was scrapped from the record books as manager Marc Wilmots used seven substitutes rather than the allowed six.[9] Kaminski was not part of the final squad after Courtois and Mignolet returned to the side. He was then called up into his first major tournament, the UEFA Euro 2020 as a replacement for Simon Mignolet, but didn't feature in any matches as Belgium crashed out in the quarter-finals, thus remains available for Poland.

Personal life[]

Kaminski is of Belgian descent through his mother and Polish descent through his father.[10]
