Thunder Express was a Swedish rock band. The band was formed as a side project by Robert Dahlqvist of the Hellacopters on guitar and vocals. Dahlqvist recruited guitarist Robert Pehrsson from the metal band Death Breath, former Diamond Dogs drummer Jesper Karlsson, and bassist Jens Lagergren of Hello Saferide and .
Band history[]
The band took its name from the MC5 song "Thunder Express" as a tip of the hat to the MC5.[citation needed] Other bands whose influence can be heard in the band's music are The Rolling Stones, Cheap Trick, The Faces, ZZ Top, and the Hellacopters.[1] Thunder Express released two albums, We Play for Pleasure (2004) and Republic Disgrace (2007), and appeared on a 4-way split album with the song "I Can Feel The Fire".[2]
In late 2008, the band switched to Swedish lyrics and renamed itself Dundertåget (a rough Swedish translation of "Thunder Express"). Under that name they released two more albums before disbanding in 2011.[3]
