Tobías Bolaños International Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto Internacional Tobías Bolaños) (IATA: SYQ, ICAO: MRPV) is one of four international airports in Costa Rica, and the secondary airport serving the city of San José, after Juan Santamaría International Airport. It is located in downtown San José, in Pavas District, San José Canton.
The airport is named for the Costa Rican pilot Tobias Bolaños Palma (1892-1953), first pilot graduated and who laid the foundation of aviation in Costa Rica.
This airport is the main base for general aviation in the country, as well as most private flight operations, charter flights, tourism. and aviation schools. Several companies offer charter services from this airport: Aerobell, CarmonAir, and Taxiaereo among others.
Runway length includes a 50 metres (160 ft) displaced threshold on the west end. The El Coco VOR-DME (Ident: TIO) is located 5.9 nautical miles (11 km) west-northwest of the airport. The Horcones non-directional beacon (Ident: HOR) is located 9.1 nautical miles (17 km) to the west.[6][7]
