Tofiga Vaevalu Falani MBE[1] was appointed the President of Te Ekalesia Kelisiano Tuvalu in 2008,[2] and represented the church at meetings of the World Council of Churches, Central Committee in 2009,[3] and 2011.[4] In 2021 he was appointed as the Governor-General of Tuvalu. The 29 September 2021 was the date of his investiture ceremony.[citation needed]
Falani had been previously appointed as Acting Governor General on 14 August 2017, to perform the functions of Sir Iakoba Taeia Italeli when he was absent from Tuvalu.[5]
He was appointed as a Member of the British Empire for public and community service in the 2014 New Year Honours.[6]
