Series 31 of Top Gear, a British motoring magazine and factual television programme, was broadcast in the United Kingdom on BBC One and BBC One HD during late 2021.[1] It was the fifth series to feature the presenting line-up of Chris Harris, Paddy McGuinness, and Freddie Flintoff, and the third to be broadcast on BBC One. This series saw the retention of the outdoor studio set at Television Centre, London from the previous series.

The presenters kick off the series by seeing what is the best track-day special that isn't a Porsche 911 GT3: Flintoff chooses the Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition, McGuinness selects the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm, and Harris takes the McLaren 765LT. After a drag race they head to Silverstone where they go head-to-head against F1 drivers Sebastian Vettel, Antonio Giovinazzi, and Lando Norris in a relay race around the circuit. Later, McGuinness pays tribute to his hero, stunt performer Eddie Kidd, by holding a special stunt show for him.

The presenters head to Northumberland to investigate the future of caravanning with electric SUVs on a roadtrip from Berwick-upon-Tweed to Barnard Castle: Flintoff uses a Polestar 2 coupled to a MINK, McGuinness takes a Mercedes-Benz EQC attached to a Go Pod Platinum while Harris drives an Audi e-Tron Sportback towing an OPUS. Meanwhile, Harris tests the Hardcore Lamborghini Huracán STO at Silverstone.

Harris and McGuinness go on an Icelandic expedition in second-hand British cars bought for less than a budget of £2000: Harris buys a rally-spec Vauxhall Chevette whereas McGuinness purchases a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. They take part in traditional Icelandic activities such as sand drag racing and strongman contests, before competing against The Stig in a tense race to the rim of the Hekla volcano. Unable to head to Iceland due to a need to self-isolate, Flintoff instead reviews the new Chevrolet Corvette at the track.

The presenters think that it is too expensive for a new driver to buy and insure their first car. To solve this problem, they find classic cars that can be bought and insured for under £7000—McGuinness purchases an MGB GT, Flintoff buys a Volkswagen Beetle and Harris acquires a Lada Niva—which they take on a roadtrip across Devon and Cornwall. Meanwhile, Harris pays tribute to the legendary Lamborghini Miura.

The presenters gift each other second-hand cars as Christmas presents—Harris gets a Citroën BX 4x4 GTi, McGuinness receives a Ford Escort, whilst Harris and McGuinness give Flintoff his Range Rover that he was going to drive in Iceland earlier in the series. They then drive these cars from Bethlehem, Wales to the Top Gear test track. Along the way, they hold a rally race in a Christmas tree farm, play a popular family party game in the grounds of Badminton House, and deliver a Christmas tree to the Royal Crescent in Bath.
