Touchardia is a monotypic genus of flowering plants belonging to the family Urticaceae.[1] It only contains one known species, Touchardia latifolia Gaudich. [1]
It is native to the Hawaiian Islands.[1]
The genus name of Touchardia is in honour of (1810–1879), a French vice-admiral.[2] The Latin specific epithet of latifolia means long flat leaves.[3] Both the genus and the species were first described and published in Voy. Bonite, Bot. Vol.3 on table 94 in 1848.[1]
