History[]

The Trade Centre Group was founded in 1999 as "The Trade Centre Wales Ltd.". It is privately owned by current Vice-Chairman Mark Bailey and his family.[2]

The company quickly expanded in the Swansea-Neath area through an aggressive marketing strategy through multiple outlets, some of which featured a voice-over by Mike Doyle as "Trevor".

In 2011, the company expanded with the opening of a Part Exchange Outlet in Merthyr Tydfil. Their third showroom was opened in Abercynon, also referred to by their marketing as "Cardiff North".

The company announced their expansion into England opening their first showroom in the country shortly after the third site in Wales, known as "The Trade Centre UK".[3] Around the same time as the expansion, the holding company was renamed to "The Trade Centre Group".

Sponsorships and contributions[]

The Trade Centre Group have been active sponsors of grassroots football teams (including as a kit sponsor for Swansea City AFC during the 2020-21 season[4]) and were one of two overall sponsors for The National Children of Wales Wards in 2019.[5]

Controversy[]

In May 2021, the Vice Chairman and Founder of the company, Mark Bailey, was criticised for objecting to the construction of a skate park in Mumbles and for harassing some of the people who used the park.[6] Mark Bailey would later withdraw his opposition to the park after public protest.[7][8]
