Trell[2] is an Indian lifestyle social commerce platform owned by Trell Experiences Pvt. Ltd based in Bangalore.[3] The mobile application is used by Indian communities to share their experiences with like-minded individuals in the form of 3 minute vertical videos.[4] The platform is currently available in 8 Indian languages across 20 Lifestyle categories such as fashion, beauty, personal care, recipes, food, travel, movie and TV reviews, gadget reviews and demos among others.[5][6][7] In October 2020, Trell launched social commerce within the app, allowing users to purchase beauty, personal care and wellness products from the influencers’ videos.[8]

History[]

The application was launched in August 2017, by IIT Bombay Alumni Arun Lodhi, Pulkit Agrawal and NITIE Alumnus Bimal Kartheek Rebba.[9] Trell app saw a huge spike in users on 30 June 2020 when similar Chinese apps were banned in India .[2][4] In July 2020, Trell surpassed the Monthly Active Users (MAUs) of Twitter and Pinterest in India.[10] In August 2020, Trell started focusing on monetization.[11] They released Trell Anthem "Keh Jo Kehna Hai" which is sung by Sukhwinder Singh"[12]

Partnership[]

Trell has partnered with Chennai Super Kings in 2020 for its digital mandate which held in UAE and launched a campaign with #CSKMillionStrong.[13][14]

Initiatives against misinformation[]

During Pandemic in March 2020, Trell helped curate reliable and accurate information about the coronavirus by bringing on board doctors who created videos in regional languages and encouraging doctors on platform for awareness.[15]

Revenue model[]

Trell Shop is a marketplace for customers and brands. It earns commission from multiple brand partnership/collaboration on its platform.[16]

Technology[]

Trell app has editing tools on the platform and upload their content. It allows users to use filters and effects for videos.[citation needed]
