TrillerNet[1] is a technology company that owns several online video sharing and social media platforms, including Triller, FITE TV and Thuzio[2]

History[]

Triller was launched in 2015 by co-founders David Leiberman and Sammy Rubin. On March 9, 2021, Triller acquired Verzuz.[3] On April 14, 2021, Triller acquired pay-per-view service FITE TV and customer engagement service Amplify.at.[4] On May 20, 2021, Triller renewed its contract with Universal despite previously suggesting an intent to sever ties with the corporation.[5] On November 22, 2021, Triller acquired influencer event firm Thuzio.[6]

Funding[]

As of October 2020, Triller had raised US$100 million at a $1.25 billion valuation.[7] They have received notable investments from Proxima Media (majority investor) and Pegasus Tech Ventures.[8] The platform has also drawn angel investments from famous artists such as Marshmello, The Weeknd, Snoop Dogg, and Lil Wayne.[8]

Merger with SeaChange International[]

On December 22, 2021, TrillerNet announced its intention to merge with SeaChange International. Under the terms of the deal, TrillerNet shareholders would own at least 97.7% of the combined company. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2022.[9]
