Truro Crown Court is a judicial complex in Truro, Cornwall, England. It is a Grade II* listed building.[1]

History[]

The courthouse was commissioned to replace the old Shire Hall in Bodmin.[2] The site selected had previously been occupied by a former medieval castle and, later, that of a cattle market.[1] Construction began in February 1986; it cost £3.7 million to build and was completed in September 1988.[1] The courthouse was designed by Eldred Evans and David Shalev[3] and won the RIBA Building of the Year (a forerunner of the Stirling Prize) in 1988.[4]

Facilities[]

The Court has disabled access and toilet facilities, interview rooms, video conferencing and Prison Video Link capabilities, baby changing facilities and an on site cafe. It does not have on site parking.[5]
