TurnTable charts is a catalog of relative weekly, and yearly popular songs in the Nigerian music space. The results are published in TurnTable magazine. TurnTable provides additional weekly charts, as well as the End of the Year Top 50. The charts can be ranked according to air play, streaming, and sales (physical and digital). For main song charts such as the TurnTable Top 50, all three data are used to compile the charts. For End of the Year Top 50, streams, airplay, and track sales from TurnTable Top 50 are included.

History[]

On 3 July 2020, TurnTable magazine launched the TurnTable Chart, with its weekly official chart TurnTable Top 50, first led by Wizkid "Ginger" featuring Burna Boy, on the number one spot. The chart combines single sales (digital and physical), radio airplay, and online streaming activity (including data from YouTube, Boomplay Music, and Audiomack).

In March 2021, TurnTable announce its partnership with City 105.1FM, for the syndication of TurnTable Top 50. As the weekly results will be announced on City 105.1 FM radio show City Cafe, hosted by Melody Hassan between the hours of 11:10 am - 12:00 pm on Friday's.[1] On 12 March 2021, TurnTable Charts partner with WeTalkSound, and lunch the .[2][3] On 21 May 2021, Turntable Charts announced its partnership with The Aristokrat Group. As the partnership allows both companies collaborate in the exchange of data and ideas to improve music consumption, documentation, and chart culture in Nigeria.[4] On 24 May 2021, Turntable Charts announce its partnership with Chocolate City, as both companies will exchange data and ideas in improving music consumption, documentation, and chart culture in Nigeria.[5] On 14 July 2021, TurnTable announced its first direct partnership between TurnTable Chart, and Boomplay. As its partnership allows, Boomplay to distribute its data on the most streamed songs in Nigeria.[6]

2020: Charts created[]

On 3 July 2020, TurnTable Top 50 was launched to measure the trends and performance of songs in Nigeria.[8] On 6 July 2020, was launched to incorporate radio airplay data provided by Radiomonitor over the week. The TurnTable Top 50 Airplay chart blends total numbers of plays on the radio from over 50 radio stations in Nigeria.[9] On 14 July 2020, TurnTable magazine launched , to monitor the most streamed weekly song on digital platforms; including Boomplay Music, and Audiomack.[10]

On 21 August 2020, was launched in collaboration with Triller. It highlights the most popular songs on the video based app on a methodology that blends the amount of views containing a respective songs, the level of engagement with those videos and the raw total of videos uploaded featuring each song, according to Triller’s data.[11] On 7 September 2020, was launched to monitor top 50 songs from 5 cable television channels (data sourced from Radiomonitor/Media Planning Service).[12][13] On 14 September 2020, was launched to combine sales of physical and digital sells of songs for a summarized figure.[14]

Emerging Artists[]

On 10 August 2020, TurnTable charts lunch , a weekly series that seeks to focus the spotlight on emerging creatives producers, artists, songwriters, and everyone involved in the creation of music.[15] will spotlight four emerging creatives who are contributing to the Nigerian story, as TurnTable NXT will allow you to keep up with the music, and get familiar with these creatives as well as discover new talents. The first issue of TurnTable NXT emerging creative where; Kizz Ernie,[16] and Albertium.[17]

On 16 March 2021, returns back on TTC, as a standard chart for emerging artists. As it will aggregate freemium streaming platforms, Radio, and Television to capture the progress of emerging artists. It will also give fans and the music community an insight into the top-performing songs and introduce them to a wide variety of emerging artists.[18]

On 30 June 2021, TurnTable and The Native, launched its Summer chart.[19] On 6 September 2021, TurnTable charts published the final issue of the chart with Wizkid "Essence", emerging as number 1 on Global chart,[20] Master KG "Jerusalema", topping the African chart,[21] and Ladipoe "Feeling" leading the Songs of the Summer Nigeria chart.[22]
