Production[]

It was announced in February 2021 that a television series adaptation of the video game franchise was in development, with Will Arnett, Rhett Reese, Michael Jonathan Smith and Paul Wernick executive producing. Smith will write based on a new take on the series pitched by Reese and Wernick.[1] In September, Anthony Mackie was cast as John Doe, and was also set to executive produce.[2]

In February 2022, the series was greenlit by Peacock.[3] In April, Kitao Sakurai joined the series as an executive producer in addition to directing multiple episodes.[4] In May, Stephanie Beatriz and Thomas Haden Church joined the cast in starring roles while Neve Campbell was cast in a recurring role.[5][6][7] In June, Arnett joined the cast, voicing the character Sweet Tooth.[8] Samoa Joe was cast to portray Sweet Tooth physically, with Richard Cabral cast in a main role and Tahj Vaughans, Mike Mitchell and Lou Beatty Jr. in recurring roles.[9][10] Michael Carollo and Chloe Fineman were revealed as part of the cast upon the completion of production in August.[11]

Filming began on May 23, 2022, in New Orleans, and was expected to wrap on September 2, but instead wrapped early on August 27.[12][13]
