Ujjwal Maulik[1] is an Indian computer scientist and a professor.[2] He is the former chair of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Jadavpur University, Kolkata, West Bengal, India. He also held the position of the principal-in-charge and the head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Kalyani Government Engineering College. He has keen interest in Sport and Music and love to travel extensively around the world. He himself also actively taken part in many sports including cricket under Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and represent the University team.

Education[]

Dr. Maulik did his schooling from Nabadwip Bakul Tala High School, Nabadwip, Nadia and Rahara Ramkrishna Mission, Rahara, 24 Parganas (North) both in West Bengal. Subsequently he completed B. Sc. in Physics and B. Tech in Computer Science from Calcutta University, Kolkata, West Bengal, India in 1986 and 1989. He also received his M. Tech in Computer Science and Ph. D. in Engineering in 1992 and 1997 at Jadavpur University, Kolkata, West Bengal, India.[3]

Research[]

Maulik did post-doctoral research at the [4] in 1999 and the [5] in 2001. As an Alexander von Humboldt Experienced Researcher, he has worked at the Germany [6] and [7] in 2010, 2011, and 2012. He was a senior associate of the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP),[8] Italy from 2012 to 2018.

Maulik is the Fellow of the West Bengal Academy of Science and Technology,[9] Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE),[10] the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).[11] His research interests include data science, machine learning, bioinformatics, and the Internet of things.[12]
