Umar Ata Bandial (born 17 September 1958) is a Pakistani jurist who has been a Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan since 17 June 2014.[1] President Dr. Arif Alvi approved the appointment of Justice Umar Ata Bandial as the new Chief Justice of Pakistan on 13 January 2022.[2]

Columbia University

Justice Bandial will become chief justice for one year, six months and 25 days on 2 February 2022 until 16 September 2023.[3]

He received his bachelor's degree in economics from Columbia University in 1979 and received his law degree from the University of Cambridge in 1981.[1][4][5]

Justice Umar Ata Bandial had been elevated as an LHC judge on December 4, 2004.
