Unfit Magazine

Unfit Magazine is a pulp fiction style magazine focused on science fiction short stories. The magazine is one of several imprints owned by Longshot Press. Unfit Magazine was launched in July 2018[1] and releases issues two times a year, in electronic, online, and print formats. The magazine is edited by Daniel Scott White.[2]

Overview[]

Unfit Magazines publishes both fiction and nonfiction. For fiction it publishes stories in the sub-genres of Cyberpunk, Alternative History, Dystopian, Genetic Engineering, Military, Post-Apocalyptic, Steampunk, and Time Travel. In the area of nonfiction it publishes essays by people such as Ernest Hogan, and Eric Del Carlo, on the writing experience. The magazine includes both original fiction and reprint fiction, such as the novelet Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card.

Experdito awarded the magazine the #4 spot on 25 Best Science Fiction Blogs - Complete List of Top Science Fiction Blogs 2019.[5]

Readers' Favorite has given the magazine a 5-star review.[6]

Controversy[]

The SFWA working in conjunction with Writer Beware issued a statement that Thinkerbeat was the publisher of Unfit magazine.[7] The erroneous statement remains uncorrected, according to the real publisher Longshot Press.[8] As a result, Longshot Press banned members of the SFWA from submissions to Unfit magazine.[9]
