The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) is a private university in Dehradun, India.

History[]

The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) is a private university in the Indian city of Dehradun. Since 2019, it has been in Academic Collaboration with Global University Systems. Established in 2003 through the UPES Act, 2003 of the State Legislature of Uttarakhand, UPES is a UGC-recognized university.[1] The University has received 5-Stars on Employability (placements), Academic Development Program Strength and campus facilities and 4-Stars for overall teaching by QS Rating.[2] UPES offers graduate and postgraduate programs through its seven schools: School of Engineering, School of Computer Science, School of Design, School of Law, School of Business, School of Health Sciences, and School of Modern Media.[3]

Ownership[]

In 2013, UPES was acquired by the US-based Laureate International Universities network.[4]

In 2019, UPES, Dehradun entered into an academic collaboration with Global University Systems (GUS) by signing an MoU for education, training and research cooperation.[5]

Since the collaboration, Global University Systems has partnered with UPES and Pearl Academy through a subsidiary company in India, GUS Global Services.[6]
