Valerie P. Foushee (born May 7, 1956)[1] is a Democratic member of the North Carolina General Assembly, representing the 23rd district (Orange and Chatham counties) in the North Carolina Senate. She previously served in the North Carolina House of Representatives.

Elected to the House in 2012, Foushee was selected by local Democrats to fill a vacancy in the Senate caused by the resignation of Sen. Eleanor Kinnaird in 2013.[2]

She was reelected in 2014, 2016, and 2018.

During the legislative session beginning in 2015, Foushee was one of 12 African Americans to serve in the North Carolina Senate.[3]
