"Vamos a la playa " (English: "Let's go to the beach ") is the debut single by Italo disco duo Righeira , released as a single in 1983. With Spanish lyrics, it was written by Stefano Righi and Carmelo La Bionda.[2] The song became the duo's first number 1 single and reached number 53 in the UK Singles Chart .[3] The single was also number 1 in Switzerland.[4] Despite its ostensibly innocuous beach theme, the song actually talks about the explosion of an atomic bomb.[5]
