Vinous-breasted Starling

The vinous-breasted starling (Acridotheres burmannicus) is a species of starling in the family Sturnidae.[2]

Taxonomy[]

Two subspecies are recognized: A. b. burmannicus Jerdon 1862, and A. b. leucocephalus Salvadori & Giglioli 1870.[2]

Distribution and habitat[]

It is found in Cambodia, China, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. In the early 2000s it has become an invasive species in Israel, alongside the common myna that invaded a few years earlier. Both populations seem to have started from individuals that escaped from a bird park in Tel Aviv.
