Vishuddhananda Paramahansa (14 March 1853 – 14 July 1937) popularly known as 'Gandha Baba'

He was a Shiv bhakt from childhood days and loved the company of nature. He was very deeply connected with his mother.

He was born as Bholanath Chattopadhaya to Akhil Chandra Chattopadhaya and Raj Rajeshswari Chattopadhaya in a village named Bondul in the current Bardhaman district in West Bengal, India.

Shri Vishuddhanand Paramhamsa was a saint who had a scientific and rational mindset along with devotional qualities.

He had faith that the ancient wisdom is not just mere teachings or principles but it is an established fact of the Universe which has a Vigyan or science around it.

He was dedicated to his Guru & never disobeyed Guru's instruction. His spiritual training school was Gyanganj or Sidhaashram ahead of Kailash mansarovar in Tibet.

In Tantra maarg, Navmundi Asan is considered to be the highest and is rare in the Universe. It is said that there are only two Navmundi Asans in the entire Universe, one in Varanasi at Shri Vishuddhanand Kanan Ashram and one at Siddhashram or Gyanganj ahead of Kailash Mansarovar.

GuruDev Vishuddhanand Paramhamsa attained the sadhana of Navmundi asana (Varanasi) which is the highest realisation on the Shakti path of Tantra.

With his Guru's instruction, he married Maa Krishna Bhamini Devi and became a father of three children, one daughter and two sons.

He continued his household duties and Sadhanas even after marriage and became a Tirtha Swami.

GuruDev lost his mother, wife, daughter and son around 1911 in a single year after the Bondul Ashram was established. The multiple deaths created more subtle vairaagya in the deep core of GuruDev.

There were or there are many Sadhus or scientists who talk about possibilities of Adhyaatma or Vigyan, but Shri Vishuddhanand Paramhamsa merged both and showed that Adhyaatma or Paramatman and Vigyaan or Atoms, Mundane and Subtle are all one.

He is the only saint who made ever unbelievable spiritual output. GuruDev had a scientific outlook to the ancient wisdom along with the medical insights as he was also a qualified Homoeopath and Ayurved Practitioner.

Shri Vishuddhanand Paramhamsa had almost infinite siddhis but he only showed them sometimes out of innocence and many would just take him as a demonstrator of powers.

Britishers or others would come to him to talk about science and spirituality but he would deny talking too much.He disliked too much of public life. His solitude was his dedication to the Divine.

Due to his nature to be in solitude many people wrote or spread wrong things about him but he was never worried as he felt that what karmas one does always comes back at the right time which is the law of Prakriti in some or the other lifetime.

Many people would get cured of diseases with just a blessing from Vishuddhanand Paramhamsa.

He wished to offer the world a meditation centre based on celestial Solar Science and propagated with endeavor but later on he had to stop because of the unwillingness of His elder Guru Brothers.

  1. Dr. Gopinath Kaviraj and Akshay Kumar Dutta Gupta were most known disciples of Him.

Gopinath Kaviraj tried multiple times to pen a book on Vishuddhanand Paramhamsa, but he felt it was difficult to describe a saint who had such broad interests and was born way ahead of time that could absorb his thoughts of science & spirituality.

'Karmebhyoh Namah' is the major message by Him. He would say that ve it a householder or Sadhu, all have to settle their karmas. So,keep doing your Karmas, once you do that, gates for the Divine will open.

Doing Kriya with mantra as initiated by Guru will lead to divine knowledge further yielding in Self realisation.
