Visitors on The Icy Mountain is a Chinese contemporary classical opera composed by Lei Lei after the plot and songs of the 1963 film of the same name.[1][2]

  1. ^ Familiar songs as ’60s film to stage as opera January 30, 2015 "The namesake movie, produced in 1963, told a story about frontier guards in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Apart from the heroic figures, six songs with Tajik characteristics also impressed generations of Chinese. In addition to the three mentioned above, others include “The Tajik Eagles,” “The Sandstorm in the Gobi Desert” and “The Song of Plateau.” “The opera version will largely preserve the original figures, lines and melodies, while enriching the music part,” says Chen Xinyi, director of the opera."
