Vladimir Zelenbaba (Serbian Cyrillic: Владимир Зеленбаба, pronounced [ʋlǎdimiːr zelêɱbaba]; born February 6, 1982) is a Croatian[2] footballer who plays with Scarborough SC in the Canadian Soccer League.[3][4]

Career[]

Zelenbaba began his career in the Serbian First League and had stints with FK Železničar Beograd, FK Hajduk Beograd, FK Radnički Pirot, and FK Inđija.[5] In 2007, he went abroad to play with Zorya Luhansk in the 2006–07 Ukrainian Premier League.[6][7] After his brief stint in the Ukraine to went to Kazakhstan to play with FC Kaisar and FC Ordabasy.[8] In 2010, he returned to Serbia to play with FK Zemun and had a stint in Azerbaijan with Kapaz PFK.[9]

In 2012, he went overseas to sign with SC Waterloo Region in the Canadian Soccer League.[10] In 2013, he reached the finals of the CSL Championship where Waterloo faced Kingston FC, during the match Zelenbaba recorded two goals to secure the club's first championship by a score of 3-1.[11][12] In 2014, he was loaned to NK Travnik of the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the following season he signed with Bangkok F.C. of the Thai Division 1 League.[13][14] In summer 2016, Zelenbaba joined OFK Balkan Mirijevo.[15]

In 2017, he returned to his former team SC Waterloo Region.[16] In 2020, he signed with Scarborough SC.[17] In his debut season with Scarborough he assisted in securing the First Division title, and featured in the championship final against FC Vorkuta, but were defeated by a score of 2-1.[18] He featured in the ProSound Cup final in 2021 against FC Vorkuta, but were defeated in a penalty shootout.[19] He won his second championship title by assisting Scarborough in defeating Vorkuta in the 2021 playoffs.[20]

Managerial career[]

In 2016, he was the head coach for the FK Voždovac U-13 team.[21] He was a player-coach in 2017 for SC Waterloo Region, and became associated with ProStars FC as an academy coach.[21]
