Voima is a Finnish monthly green-leftist leading free publication. Voima is the Finnish word for power.

History and profile[]

Voima was established 1999.[1] The paper is delivered e.g. in libraries, universities, public transportation facilities, theaters, and museums.[2] Publication titles include issues of human rights, environment, economics, and society. Owners include Rosebud Books, Suomen Rauhanpuolustajat, Luonto-Liitto, Friends of the Earth, and Heikki Hiilamo.[3] Teemu Matinpuro is the editor-in-chief of the paper which is published on a monthly basis.[4]

Voima obtained the award from the Ministry of Education (Finland) in 2001.[5]

Voima had 82,000 annual readers mainly in the age of 20 to 64 in 2009/2010.[6]

Voima Kustannus Oy, the publisher of Voima, has published the French Le Monde diplomatique since 2007. Currently the books are published by subsidiary Into Kustannus Oy including Le Monde diplomatique and Novaya Gazeta paperbacks in Finnish and new Finnish paperbacks.
