The Volkswagen Concept D is a concept luxury liftback which was envisioned by Ferdinand Piëch and was officially unveiled by Volkswagen at the September 1999 International Motor Show Germany, going on public display on September 16, 1999.[1][2]

It featured V10 TDI diesel engine (230 kW/313 bhp at 4000 rpm., 750 Nm torque), six speed Tiptronic, 4Motion all wheel drive, air suspension with adaptive damping and Bi Xenon headlamps.[3] It was essentially a five door prototype of the luxury sedan, the Volkswagen Phaeton which officially debuted two years later in March 2002.[4]
