Vrang (Russian and Tajik: Вранг) and (Khowar: وڑانگ) is a village and jamoat located in the Wakhan region of Tajikistan.[2] It is located in Ishkoshim District in Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region. The jamoat has a total population of 6,541 (2015).[3]

Religion[]

Vrang is home to a stupa of unknown origin, which may have originally been a Zoroastrian fire temple.[2]

Language[]

The majority of the people in Vrang are the Kho people[citation needed], a Dardic ethnic group who are from Northern Pakistan. They speak Khowar, a Dardic language. This is one of the only native places of Kho people where Khowar is spoken.[4]
