970 WATH first hit the airwaves in Athens, Ohio, on October 25, 1950.

Party Line: Monday through Friday 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.[]
The Party Line is Ohio's longest continuously airing talk show having started in 1974. The Squire of the Hocking Valley, Woody Simpson was its first host but the show originally was called Up On Mockingbird Hill which began as a gardening tips program. But it wasn't too long before its focus expanded to other topics and with that became the Party Line. Ted Jacobson was the shows next host. It was in 1980 that Dave Palmer began hosting the show and he remains so today. The Party Line now enjoys the monthly appearances by Ohio University's president, Athens' mayor, county commissioners, dignitaries, celebrities and experts in a variety of timely topics.[3]
