Waking the Cadaver is an American death metal band from Jersey Shore, New Jersey, formed in 2006. Originally called Death to Honor, the band released one demo in 2004 before changing their name to Waking the Cadaver in 2006. The band has released a total of three albums within a six-year span; Perverse Recollections of a Necromangler (2007), Beyond Cops, Beyond God (2010) and Real-Life Death (2013). They are now signed to Unique Leader Records and are set to release their new album Authority Through Intimidation on October 22nd this year.

History[]

The band formed in January 2006 in Shore Points, New Jersey. They released a two-song demo, Demo 2006. Its two tracks, "Chased Through the Woods by a Rapist" and "Blood Splattered Satisfaction", were both later re-recorded.

On November 21, 2007 their debut album, Perverse Recollections of a Necromangler, was released on Necrohamonic Records.[2]

On August 10, 2010, they released their second full-length album, Beyond Cops. Beyond God. and supported it with tours with death metal bands such as Napalm Death and Immolation.[3]

On January 19, 2013, the band released a new single, "Lumped Up". They announced plans to release a new album, Real-Life Death.[4] The band later confirmed to join the studio on January 26 during 2013 to record the album. It was recorded at Full Force Studios with producer Joe Cincotta.[citation needed] Real-Life Death was released digitally and sold at the band's live concert shows on October 5, 2013 and was released in stores November 5, 2013.[5]

The band disbanded in 2013, but did not announce it until 2015.[citation needed]

In August 2018, it was announced that vocalist Don Campan and guitarist Michael Mayo along with an entirely new lineup would reform the band. The band has confirmed that they are currently writing new music and will be touring extensively.[citation needed] Waking the Cadaver’s fourth album Authority Through Intimidation is set for release for October 2021.

Musical style[]

Waking the Cadaver has been described as brutal death metal,[6] particularly its slam death metal offshoot.[7][8] The band has also been described as deathcore.[9][10][11] Their later material features influence from New Jersey hardcore.[12][6]

Waking the Cadaver's influences include Cannibal Corpse, Devourment, Slayer, Napalm Death, Disgorge, and Cinerary.[12]
