Content[]
"Walk a Little Straighter" tells the story of a boy whose father is an alcoholic. It starts by telling about the boy waiting for his father to come home for the night. When his father does return, he is drunk and passes out in his chair. The song continues with the boy, now eighteen years old, graduating from high school. While watching the graduation, his drunken father leaves the gym before his son's name is called to receive his diploma. The song ends with the son resolving to never put his children through the same heartache caused by being a drunken father himself.
