War Brokers is a free to play, browser based multiplayer game released as an open beta for browser by Trebuchet Entertainment on November 13, 2017, and on Steam on April 18, 2018.[2] The game uses the Unity engine.[3]

Gameplay[]

War Brokers has four main modes of play, the first of which is known as Classic. Classic was the first way to play War Brokers. Classic Mode games have a maximum of up to 16 players per server. Classic Mode consists of game modes such as Team Deathmatch, Missile Launch, Capture Points, Vehicle Escort, and Bomb Disposal. In Classic, you have infinite ammo; there are 2 teams, and squad spawns can be made. Another one of these modes is known as Battle Royale. This mode is a traditional battle royale game in which the player is put into a 60 player server and fights to find the best weapons and loot, which consists of attachments, medical supplies, and armor. Players can select a teammate for their match (duo) or go solo. As the game progresses, a blue circle (known as the storm) damages players. It grows smaller, thus forces all players to the center. Eventually, one duo or player comes out on top and wins the game. This game mode has two variants. On occasion, ZBR (Zombie Battle Royale) replaces the regular Battle Royale mode which is released each year in the Halloween month. In ZBR, players work together to defeat a horde of zombies, and eventually, a boss. The other version of BR is known as "Dead End City," which is a type of FFA Royale, in which you collect weapons and loot like the BR game mode, but you can respawn. The person with the most kills wins this mode. The most recent mode, 4v4, takes place on smaller maps between teams of up to four players. This mode plays very similarly to classic deathmatch with a swappable weapons menu and respawn on death. The matches is shorter than the traditional classic deathmatch mode.

Player Account[]

When first playing the game, you are a guest; this enables you to play all of the game modes (battle royal, survival, 4v4, and 8v8), but that is all. You can also make an account via google account, discord account, twitch account, or Facebook account by signing in to the game by one of these methods, you can choose a name for yourself (if it has not been decided already), and you can start to level up with the experience you get from playing the game and every level you gain you receive 50 in-game coins (until level 100) in which you can spend in the shop or by buying crates. To be able to see what level you are currently on, you can view it in-game by pressing the 'M' button and clicking on the 'stats' tab or by going to 'https://stats.warbrokers.io/' where you can also view your level by typing in your account name it can also tell you other information about your account achievements such as; longest kills, most kills, the most amount of kill with a weapon, amount of deaths and more. It gets harder to gain as you level up, and progression slows down like other games. 40 levels in one month can be achieved according to the player 'Sliced' that is currently on level 34 and is now predicted to reach level 40 by the end of the month.

Squads[]

If you have an account, you can also join a squad and join a community of players where you can play together and compete against other squads, although many squads have requirements to be able to join, such as; above a certain level (generally above 75), have a high enough KD and have enough kills this will differ depending on what clan the player would like to join. Suppose a player is interested in joining a squad. In that case, they must have a discord account to enable them to communicate with squad leaders about joining a squad as the squad may want the player to be tested in-game to see if they are eligible to join, if the squad want the player to join the squad you must confirm that you want to join the squad. The mods will put the squad initials by your in-game name, for example, '[HF].' if a player wishes to join the war brokers discord server, they can click the discord symbol in the top right-hand corner of the home page of warbrokers.io.

Reception[]

In December 2017, PC Gamer listed War Brokers as one of their top 15 browser games, with a liking for the amount and variety of weapons available, the competitive challenge the player base provided, and the various battle modes available.[4] War Brokers was rated the 6th best online FPS shooter by MakeUseOf.com, also with praise for the weapons and vehicles, and saying the Battle Royale mode shares elements similar to popular multiplayer shooter games like PUBG, Fortnite and H1Z1.[5] GameSpot's user ratings gave the game a rating of 8.2/10.[6]
