The Weekender started as an independent entertainment weekly in 1991. It was purchased by Times Leader in 1993. Since then, the Weekender claims to have grown to be Northeastern Pennsylvania’s #1 Arts & Entertainment Weekly. Circulation numbers are reported at over 40,000 papers distributed to over 1,000 locations weekly and covering 5 counties while boasting over 174,415 readers.
