Werner Enterprises, Inc. (NasdaqWERN) is an American transportation and logistics company, serving customers across the United States, Mexico and Canada. Werner Enterprises states that it has 2020 revenues of $2.4 billion, a modern truck and trailer fleet, over 13,000 associates and Werner Edge technology.[3]

History[]

In 1956, Clarence "CL" Werner sold his family vehicle for a Ford-gasoline powered truck, and began hauling cargo for other companies.[1] and[4] In 1964, CL moved his company out of his home and into a shop in Council Bluffs, Iowa. In 1977, Werner Enterprises moved to its current location in Omaha, Nebraska, becoming the company's corporate headquarters. By 1999, Werner had expanded its operations into Mexico, reaching one billion dollars in revenue. Today, Werner is among the five largest truckload carriers in the United States.[5]

Werner's fleet consists of approximately 8,000 tractors, 24,000 trailers and 13,000 associates and independent contractors worldwide.[1] The main commodities of freight transported are retail store merchandise, consumer, manufactured and grocery products.
