What's Next for Sarah? is an American web series on Vimeo. It premiered on August 13, 2014, and was created by and stars Jennette McCurdy in the lead role. The show follows Sarah, who is an actress whose hit show got cancelled and subsequently her life gets even worse; her boyfriend breaks up with her and so instead of acting she wants to meet the real world.[1][2]

The show is inspired by McCurdy's life in acting and Hollywood. The character Sarah Bronson is based loosely on her with some scenes based directly on actual events and others greatly exaggerated for comedic effect.[2] The series is written by McCurdy who also serves as the show's executive producer and lead editor. The show is Jennette's first foray into screenwriting and producing a show.

Due to this, her boyfriend breaks up with her and people are no longer interested in pictures with her or autographs from her. Sarah auditions for the part in the movie, but does not get it. She then meets with her agents and they tell her that she needs to change her look, recommending that she dye her hair purple. She does so, and hates it. Her friend then changes it back, but makes her hair shorter, and Sarah says it is better but she still does not like it. Her agents call again, offering her a role, requiring her to have the purple hair, which she turns down and decides that she wants to try out the "normal" life.

Controversy[]

The character Gloriana, who had been portrayed by Shelby Young, was alleged to be based on McCurdy's Sam & Cat co-star Ariana Grande.[4] Gloriana was seen with an appearance along with characteristics which were said to have been mocking Grande.[5][6] McCurdy did neither confirm or completely deny that the character parodies Grande, while admitting the character was heightened for comedy. She had met with Grande after the series went public.

We had coffee since this web series, we've talked. She's awesome, I wish her all the best and I know that she does the same for me.
