William Sutherland (police officer)

Sir William George MacKenzie Sutherland CBE QPM (born 12 November 1933) is a retired British police officer.[1]

He was educated at Inverness Technical High School and joined the Cheshire Police in 1954. He also served with the Surrey Police (1973–1975) and Hertfordshire Police (1975 to 1979. He was Chief Constable of Bedfordshire from 1979 to 1983; and of Lothian and Borders Police from 1983[2] to 1996. He was HM Chief Inspector of Constabulary for Scotland from 1996 to 1998.
