Towa uses a limited amount of demonic energy within Tenseiga to destroy the afterlife imps and save Setsuna. This causes Towa to fall unconscious. Tōtōsai arrives at the scene, reforges the naginata and names the new blade "Yukari no Tachikiri". Setsuna wakes up and uses it to destroy many demons. Tōtōsai borrows Tenseiga from Sesshōmaru for a three-day mending. Before leaving, Tōtōsai warns Setsuna not to die again. While Towa manages to restore her powers, Tōtōsai instructs Setsuna to find a mystical Kyūyōkon Root from a two-thousand-year-old Magnolia demonic tree Bokusenō to receive a proper fully empowered demonic weapon for Towa to replace a sword hilt.

While Setsuna goes to retrieve the root, Moroha asks Jyūbei about Bokusenō, by finding a demon with wisdom and mystical demonic abilities. Moroha accompanies Setsuna to find it but ends up encountering the snake-demon spirit disguised as a human nun, who desires Setsuna's waist-length hair to appease her intense fury and bitterness at never being able to restore her true form. Towa arrives in time to aid a group of demon-slayers, wearing a pair of mirrored sunglasses to protect everyone from turning into petrified statues. It is then that Setsuna realizes she can put an end to all of this suffering. She utilizes her Yukari no Tachikiri's strongest and most useful ability to cut all physical and immaterial things/beings, both seen and unseen, to restore the destiny of the snake-demon and that of her human love, a fisherman. Finally at peace with herself and the humans on the surface, the Snake-Demon manages to regain her true form and returns to her home in the sea. The Half-Demon Princesses leave on Takechiyo, with Riku watching from a distance; glad that Towa is safe and that he awaits their next encounter, during which Towa would be wielding a genuine weapon fully empowered with immense demonic energy against the siblings.

Jaken recalls how fourteen years ago, an eighteen-year-old Rin had been approached by Lady Zero who had fatally cursed the wife of Sesshōmaru via her binding spell coupled with a very rare thread of fate. Now that Kirinmaru's elder sister had had Rin as leverage over Sesshōmaru, she demanded the know the whereabouts of their newborn twin daughters; without such information, her silver-scale curse would further spread throughout Rin's entire body to the point that she would be encased in silver scales and ultimately perish permanently. Out of options, Jaken had requested that Rin be placed under the protection and care of the mighty Sacred Tree of Ages, whose infinite time-based powers would assist in reducing a rapid spread of Zero's curse by forever keeping Rin within her current state of suspended animation. The Sacred Tree of Ages had then instructed Jaken to put a portion of the sacred Dream Butterfly on four-year-old Setsuna's neck, with which Rin's youngest twin daughter's own dreams and sleep would then be transferred to Rin to preserve her young life and temporarily stop the lethal curse in its tracks. In the feudal era's current timeline, the Half-Demon Princesses resume their search for Bokusenō the two-thousand-year-old tree-demon to retrieve a mystical Kyūyōkon Root for Towa's proper and fully demonic-empowered sword. He informs them that a root of such ancient, mystical demonic power originates from none other than Mount Musubi but neglects to mention the unusually strong shield of pure mystical, demonic energy that surrounds it. The Half-Demon Princesses reach the outside of said mystical demonic mountain and wonder what mysteries and secrets await them. We last see a transparent young red-haired girl slumbering deeply on a pale green glowing scale in the very center of Mount Musubi.

Outside Mount Musubi, which contains vast amounts of both demonic and spiritual energy, Jaken and Sesshōmaru wait. Jaken tells his lord and master that it is where the cat-eared teenage demon girl Rion has been sealed away for six long centuries. The girls become separated, but Moroha is capable of entering through the incredibly strong spiritual energy shield due to possessing spiritual powers. Rion finally awakens and tells Moroha that she can find Towa and Setsuna, but only if she is willing to let go of what she holds most precious. The quarter dog-demon girl breaks through with her sacred arrow and enters the border between the mortal world and that of the Afterlife, where is confused at seeing the gigantic skeletal corpse, unaware it is her paternal grandfather. Inuyasha and Kagome Higurashi are shown to have come down to terms to their fourteen-year imprisonment in the demon graveyard. Inuyasha tells Kagome that the fang of his mighty Tessaiga is stirring because it is trying to tell him something important. As the spirit of Moroha continues to hover throughout the graveyard, her scared arrows suddenly become restless and becomes emotional upon glimpsing Inuyasha and Kagome, whom she recognizes from the picture that her Uncle Sōta had shown her all those months ago. Kagome is excited upon seeing her firstborn child as a teenager, to which Inuyasha expresses how glad he is that his own child has been living fine without their parental guidance and love. Meanwhile, Towa is being tested by the voice of none other her middle school teacher Osamu Kirin, who informs her that she must let go of the modern era. However, Setsuna is taken to the Sacred Tree of Ages and finally meets the sleeping eighteen-year-old Rin within the unparalleled time-based entity very core. Setsuna then recalls how the song she plays on her violin was a memory that only her body could recall, realizing that she must have learned it from the woman she now sees. The Sacred Tree of Ages asks the half dog-demon girl how she feels getting to meet her mother again; explaining how her young human mother has not aged since being hidden within it for fourteen years since she gave birth to Towa and Setsuna, which had been aided by the elderly low-level miko Kaede, uppermost-level priestess Kagome Higurashi, and retired master demon-slayer Sango.

The Half-Demon Princesses befriend Rion, the only child of Beast King Kirinmaru of the Dawn, who had perished six centuries previously but had her spiritual essence perpetually bound to the earthly plane by the deep obsessive fatherly love Kirinmaru still has for her. With her own strength and resolve to put a stop her father's ambition and bring forth the Degenerate Age foretold by the Sacred Tree of Ages, Rion sustains her spirit within an artificial body, and Towa receives the ancient Star-Slicer Flute that transforms into the supremely powerful star sword, Zanseiken. With a universally powerful stellar demonic-empowered star sword equal in strength to the Bakuseiken wielded by Kirinmaru, the Half-Demon Princesses are ready to face anything or anyone that either Kirinmaru or his elder sister Zero send their way.

Finally being able to sleep after a whole decade, Setsuna is abducted by ninjas who serve under Princess Aiya and her father the Lord. Princess Aiya coerces Setsuna to take her lessons for her as the Princess leaves via palanquin to enjoy her newfound freedom outside the castle. Setsuna is surprised to see that the instructor is none other than Hisui, who has been forced into taking the place of his twin elder sister Nun Kin'u. On her way further outside the castle, Princess Aiya is attacked by an octopus demon who plans to devour her. Fortunately, she is saved by Hisui, who she immediately falls for, and assistance from Kin'u's sacred sutras and her twin sister Gyokotuo's scent-beads. The Lord discovers his daughter's duplicity and severely lectures her as Setsuna returns to Kaede's village, where a relieved Towa hugs her. Setsuna does not inform her twin about her predicament and leaves to train in further developing and increasing her Yukari no Tachikiri's divinely powerful abilities and unique techniques to their full strength. Lost in thought and still uncertain about the fact that saving Rin from Zero's deathly curse is up to her alone, Setsuna goes to the Sacred of Ages and plays her mother's lullaby on her violin again as the deeply sleeping Rin continues to listen from within.

Towa and Setsuna are attacked by a gigantic earth-type rock demon due to them being the twin daughters of the mighty Sesshōmaru, with the belief that destroying them will make him mighty as well. Towa is about to beat him with her newly acquired Zanseiken, but again hesitates as he appears "guilty" for actions. As Towa's overly kind heart and unwillingness to kill nearly gets her killed herself, Setsuna defeats the rock demon with a blast of pure demonic energy from her Yukari no Tachikiri. As their adversary splits into three child-like earth demons and flee with the promise to attack again, Setsuna informs her twin sister that it may be best for Towa to return to the modern era as she believes that she is perfectly capable of saving their mother Rin and putting an end to Lord Kirinmaru single-handed. Elsewhere, Moroha disguises herself in front a set of four male demons in the shape of porcelain masks who inform her of just how strong and notorious her parents have become before she was born: Inuyasha's ultimate triumph over Naraku and Kagome Higurashi having defeated and imprisoned a very powerful daiyōkai with an extraordinarily strong sealing arrow within the seven months she had lived in the feudal era. The four masks mock Kagome's daughter as she is only a quarter-demon but still think she is trouble. Annoyed, Moroha reveals herself and admits that she does not yet possess spiritual powers to equal those of her mother, but this statement causes the demon masks to open a portal to avoid being exorcised/purified by her anyway. Now that she knows that her parents' notorious feats are the reason why that business in slaying minor or major-league demons was declined regardless of her own reputation as "the Demon Killer." Takechiyo then appears and informs Moroha that he has requested her help in his homeland, where Moroha meets the elder raccoon-dog Hachiemon, who tells her that it was he who had brought her to village of Northern Wolf-Demon Tribe at the behest of Inuyasha and Kagome when she was a newborn.

Again disguised as Otsuyu, Zero arrives at Nanahoshi's mansion who uses his miniature galaxy to draw strength from her sorrow but is shocked to discover that Zero does not possess any such sentiment. She takes his shock as an opportunity to immobilize him with the vast demonic powers of her Rainbow Pearls, from within which her tears and sorrows reside, to set a trap for the Half-Demon Princesses. As Kohaku and his demon-slayers are preparing to set out on their mission to a village that requires their exceptional skills in wiping out a herd of fire bulls that have strayed from following the local deity, Mayonaka. Using the lavender-scented hand cream that Towa had given her to soften her dry hands, Setsuna glimpses the childlike demon spirit Akuru as Towa had earlier as Riku and Rion had come to request their assistance in accompanying her as Zero is after her very life and those of Setsuna and Moroha as well. Having been caught by the Raccoon-Dog Tribe, Moroha is incarcerated in a dungeon but manages to use a Swiss Army knife to escape. Hiding in the ceiling to try to reclaim her short bow and arrows, Moroha is stunned to hear that Takechiyo has a younger brother whose father had his forehead scarred by Inuyasha while his comrade, the Full Moon Raccoon-Dog, was defeated and imprisoned in a scroll by nineteen-year-old Kagome Higurashi's sealing arrow, which explains the whole Raccoon-Dog Tribe's fury and hatred towards Moroha. As the quarter-demon girl is chased by angered raccoon-dog demons, she tries to fight them off with her Crimson Dragon Wave, but it was proven ineffective. Now facing the very foes that her parents had defeated, who are bent on returning the favor, Moroha takes out her grandmother's rouge to boost her strength and skills even further with her new-and-improved Beniyasha form since her battle with Kirinmaru to avenge her beloved half-cousin's recent death. She attacks with her temporarily enhanced Crimson Backlash Wave, but her adversaries do not seem worried in the slightest which she comes to realize.

Riku utilizes Towa's lavender-scented hand cream to "fix" his damaged eyes, which turn them from dark green to a light lavender. He claims that this is a good thing as Kirinmaru will no longer be able to see exactly where they are anymore though his eyes. At Mamidaira Island, Moroha is easily beaten by the two-rouge raccoon-dogs, despite her bragging that her evolved Beniyasha form was now "new and improved." Takechiyo and Hachi take shelter in a cave as Moroha sleeps from the use of her deceased paternal grandmother's shell rouge once more. Still continuing their expedition in Gokoku Village, the Demon-Slayers try to find a way to stop the Flame Bulls and finally appease their master Mayonaka the "demon god" deity. Setsuna ends up learning Mayonaka's full story, that he is just a deity who had been deceived by the villagers and even the headman's daughter, Oharu, whom he had fallen for. Wanting to help him move on from his sorrow, Setsuna utilizes her Yukari no Tachikiri to cut Mayonaka's light golden thread of fate from his treasured possession, the Blessing of the Five Grains. Once she does, the shine crumples to reveal Oharu's long-dead body (who had used as sacrifice) which shocks Mayonaka. Finally understanding what had transpired, he hugs his human love and leaves with her spirit to enter the Afterlife. As the demon-slayers depart, Setsuna begins to feel a strange sensation and wonders what it could be.

Moroha, Lord Takechiyo and Hachiemon are on their way to recover Moroha's shortbow and arrows from the rouge raccoon-dog Shōgen Mamaiana and take shelter in a cave. In an inn, Setsuna is hauled up as she experiences what is like to be fully mortal for the first time in an entire decade; her already long black hair hair growing to nearly reach her caves and her eyes turning from blue to brown. Knowing how useless she is, Setsuna gives Hisui written instructions on how to deal with the demons that have come for. While building a hang guilder, Hachiemon tells Moroha the story about how the Shōgen and Full Moon Raccoon-Dog, the guardian spirit of the whole tribe, were defeated by Inuyasha and Kagome Higurashi, Miroku and Sango. Inuyasha had used his Wind Scar against Shōgen, giving him the scar on his forehead. With help from Hachiemon, Kagome had managed to immobilize the Full Moon Raccoon-Dog in a pillar of mighty spiritual power and have him fully absorbed within a scroll which was later strengthened somewhat with Miroku's help. Wanting more information on how to put an end to this feud, Moroha has Takamaru the Falcon find either Miroku or Sango, to ask just how Shōgen and his demonic magic were defeated. Meanwhile, an equally powerless Towa expresses her deep concerns over her twin sister finally experiencing the effects of the new moon since her Dream Butterfly was cut down. However, she is abducted and taken to Nanaoshi's mansion, where Zero attempts to use what she has learned from seeing Towa's memories within the Silver Rainbow Pearl that the Half-Demon Princess has had within her left eye for a whole decade to help Nanahoshi further his own power by feasting on Towa's enduring sadness and unpredictability.

A thoroughly powerless Towa finds herself at the mercy of Zero and Nanahoshi, who attempts to strengthen his extraordinary powers by feeding on the Half-Demon Princess' enduring sorrow and unpredictability by using an eternity bug on her, giving Zero a greater advantage. Setsuna, still human, trusts that Hisui and the other demon-slayers to take care of the snow demons who are after her. Meanwhile, Moroha continues her efforts in completing the job her parents began and restore Takechiyo to his rightful place in the Raccoon-Dog Clan as well as finally pay off her entire debt to Jyūbei the Corpse Dealer. But Moroha declines, saying that bounty-hunting is her life now.

Having been abducted by Zero and her suffering absorbed by Nanahoshi's miniature galaxy, Towa is forced to recall her troubled childhood memories in the modern era when she was constantly mocked by bullies for her "albino-like" appearance. It is during this ordeal that Zero's motives are revealed. Meanwhile, Sesshōmaru goes to Kohaku and Setsuna sets out to the Sacred Tree of Ages, where she meets the weakened Rin for the first time since the Dream Butterfly was destroyed and started the re-progression the silver-scale curse upon her body quickly. Rin informs Setsuna that cutting the thread of fate will not lift the curse, unless she saves Zero from herself. Riku and Rion witnesses Towa's pure fury and hatred of power. However, this is exactly what Zero has been hoping for. Riku realizes that Zero's way to "survive until the very end" is for Towa to kill her and be tormented by the sin of killing Rin in doing so and tries to hold Towa off but she is too strong. Wanting to send Towa to Hell personally, Zero absorbs all seven of her Rainbow Pearls into her eyes, thus being granted even greater demonic abilities than ever before as a rainbow demonic aura is emitted from her.

Now that Towa has tapped into the depths of her deepest fury and hatred and has allowed her demonic self to fully awaken, the utterly berserk Half-Demon Princess is set on putting an end to Zero once and for all. Things escalate further as Zero has regained even greater demonic abilities from absorbing all of her seven Rainbow Pearls into her eyes and is set on personally sending Towa to Hell. Meanwhile, Kirinmaru hears Akuru's pinwheel (but can't see him) and gives chase to make use of his pinwheel's extraordinary time-based abilities. As Moroha and Jaken arrive right outside the Sacred Tree of Ages and Bone-Eater's Well, Sesshōmaru finally hands the Black Pearl over to his half-niece. As Towa is about to cut Zero down, Setsuna arrives to help calm down her twin sister. With a Dream Butterfly she received from Rin, Setsuna and Towa see the truth of what had happened in the forest one decade ago. It turns out Towa inadvertently left Setsuna behind, and Setsuna was left inconsolable before Rin and Jaken attached a Dream Butterfly to Setsuna to remove her memory of grievance. Towa, coming to her senses, and Setsuna tearfully embrace as they fully rekindle their bond. Towa thanks Zero for helping her realize the love she still has in her life, but Zero, knowing Towa has no reason to kill her, prepares to take her own life to take Rin with her to Hell. Setsuna quickly sees a second thread of fate connecting Zero to the spirit of the Great Dog-Demon, her grandfather, and cuts it. The deep regrets Zero held are revealed to be that she felt responsible for the Great Dog Demon's death, and with the Rainbow Pearls gone, Zero sheds tears once more. However, Tōga's spirit consoles her and expresses his gratitude for her remaining who she is. Now at peace and ready to pass on, Zero severs the thread of fate connecting her and Rin before Riku kills her. Zero tells Setsuna and Towa that Kirinmaru's hatred of humans, as the samurai by the orders of Emperor Daigo who tried to kill him were no match for him, and half-demons comes from the fact that one such being, by the name Sakasa, had taken Rion's life in retribution for his master's own life. She dies afterwards, hoping to see her younger brother in the Afterlife someday. The silver-scale curse is lifted, and Rin exits the Sacred Tree of Ages to reunite with Sesshōmaru and a bawling Jaken. Back at the Bone-Eater's Well, Moroha is determined and hopeful at finally getting to meet her parents ever since she first saw their incarceration in the Border of the Afterlife. Kirinmaru snatches the Black Pearl, and forces Moroha to choose between saving her parents or stealing Akuru's pinwheel for him.

A furious Moroha challenges Kirinmaru to a duel but ends up being beaten by the Beast King of the East with relative ease, despite the new-and-improved strength of her Beniyasha form and advancement in her spiritual abilities. Having finally been released from the silver-scale curse, Rin is told to remain safe within the Sacred Tree of Ages under Jaken's watchful eye as Sesshōmaru exits to assist his half-niece in taking down his late father's rival. Towa and Setsuna leave the recently departed Lord Nanahoshi's mansion to reunite with their human mother Rin but decide to help their cousin Moroha take down Kirinmaru. It is then that Sesshōmaru emerges, and he and Kirinmaru again engage in a battle causing the very earth and heavens to resound once again. Meanwhile, Rion makes the decision to put an end to her own father, fully aware that by doing so would mean Riku's demise as well, being Kirinmaru's incarnation made from his broken right horn. Riku is not worried, as he has been prepared for such a moment for some time now and cherishes the time, however brief, that he had spent with Towa. To further assist her in her mission, Rion asks that Riku take her back to Mount Musubi. Hearing shaking from outside, Rin and Jaken exit the Sacred Tree of Ages just as Sesshōmaru has taken the hit for his twin daughters' and half-niece from the Bakuseiken's immensely powerful and lethal Demon Fireball attack, which gradually begins to drain him of his very lifeblood essence (haku) but not before Sesshōmaru uses his remaining strength to send the Half-Demon Princesses into the Black Pearl to protect them from further attacks. Gravely injured and weakened, Sesshōmaru still manages to mask his presence as his haku is gradually drained from him. At the Border of the Afterlife, near Tōga's tomb, the Half-Demon Princesses encounter none other than Kagome Higurashi, who at first is skeptical but embraces Moroha in happy tears. Inuyasha then appears and is thoroughly shocked at suddenly seeing his first child in fourteen years since her infancy.

In Tōga's tomb, Towa and Setsuna get to know their half-aunt Kagome, who is surprised and happy to know how her family has been for the last fourteen years through Towa. Inuyasha and Moroha are initially awkward around each other until a push from Kagome and Towa helps them to bond with Inuyasha telling Moroha how he and Kagome had never stopped thinking about her. Moroha sobs in his arms, happy to be reunited with her parents at last. Back in the physical world, Jaken and Rin find a fatally wounded and weakened Sesshōmaru whose haku continues to drain away due to Kirinmaru's Demon Fireball attack that he had taken for his twin daughters and half-niece. Setsuna wonders how Inuyasha and Kagome were able to recognize Moroha, to which they show the twins the Lake of the Staff of Two Heads. From time to time, they were able to see images of their infant daughter via Jaken's staff. Upon learning how Towa had returned Setsuna to life with the broken Tenseiga, Inuyasha realizes that the Tenseiga is their key to finally returning to the physical realm. Kirinmaru prepares to attack Rin until Sesshōmaru manages to retaliate in spite of his weakened state. The Beast King of the East then explains of how the Grim Comet will return in full five centuries from now and that he intends to prove to Akuru that he is the strongest of all sentient beings. When asked how he can foresee the apocalypse occurring within the distant future, Kirinmaru reveals that he used his right arm to create Osamu Kirin, another offshoot-incarnation, like Riku. This revelation allows Towa to realize the truth.

Meanwhile, Shippō transports himself and Takechiyo to the village of the demon-slayers and reunites with Sango. Takechiyo explains that Inuyasha and Kagome have been within the Black Pearl all this time, prompting Sango to realize that the time to utilize the Black Hiaraikotsu has finally come. Towa manages to call forth Tenseiga, but it is embedded in the pedestal that Tessaia was once in all those centuries ago. As more demonic power is required, Setsuna and Moroha join their demonic strength with that of Towa's and manage to pull it out. They all finally escape the Border of the Afterlife, where an overjoyed Shippō awaits them. Moroha decides to keep the Black Pearl within her late grandmother's rouge, as it holds memories that are most precious to her. Rin finally reunites with Setsuna and meets Towa for the very first time, with Jaken reminding the twins that their father is in grave danger. Towa utilizes the supreme power of the Kyūyōkon Root within Zanseiken to absorb all of the Demon Fireball's vast demonic/stellar energy. The twins assure their human mother that they will return and leave with Jaken to use the Windmill of Time to go to the modern era with aid from their dog-demon grandmother. At the Bone-Eater's Well, Moroha has been catching up with her long-lost parents who present her with a longbow made from materials from her grandfather's tomb and Inuyasha's silver-white hair. Kagome also tells her daughter that the Bone-Eater's Well is where she came from to the feudal era, that it is a very special place for her and Inuyasha. The family reunion is interrupted by the reappearance of Kirinmaru who demands that Sesshōmaru come out. To test them further, she summons Meidomaru of the Wrath of the Underworld. Near Mount Musubi, Kirinmaru uses his Bakuseiken to replenish his daughter's haku so she can move again. The rouge Beast King informs Rion and Riku about his dream to travel to the modern era and "save" humanity by destroying the Grim Comet. Rion refuses as accomplishing such a feat would bring about the Degenerate Age in the feudal era. Her father assures her that he has started procuring a new body for her: Towa. The Half-Demon Princess have trouble holding off Meidomaru as he is connected to multiple threads of fate due the grudges belonging to the many demons he had absorbed. With her new longbow given to her by her parents, Moroha's enhanced sacred arrow now enables her to break one's weapon and weaken them greatly, allowing his threads of fate to be seen by Towa. She uses the Zanseiken to absorb his demonic energies, which her grandmother recognizes as belonging to the God of Stars, and Setsuna cuts his threads of fate. Rion is shocked at what she has done to Towa, and Riku furiously engages in battle with Kirinmaru, stating that he would gladly sacrifice his artificial life for Towa. Using her late aunt's staff, Rion holds her father off, but accidentally runs Riku through with it, deeply devastating her. Kirinmaru abducts his own daughter and drugs her, flying off in pursuit of the Half-Demon Princesses. Having passed their grandmother's test, the Half-Demon Princesses are told of the curse placed on Zanseiken and that its owner will eventually inhabit Towa's body should her kon be further drained. Towa vows to master the Zanseiken, to which her grandmother says that she can do she sees fit. Akuru presents his pinwheel to Towa, who opens a time portal in one of the Windmill of Time's gears to return to the modern era. Close at hand, Kirinmaru calls to Osamu Kirin to lead him to the future as hordes of demons come from the Windmill of Time. Within the Sacred Tree of Ages, Rin senses that something big has just occurred. As they travel through the rainbow corridor, Towa vows that after destroying the Grim Comet, she will uphold the promise she had made to Rin about returning safe and sound.

The Half-Demon Princesses return to the modern era and reunite with Mei, her paternal grandmother and paternal great-grandfather. They inform them of the Grim Comet and leave to find Osamu Kirin. The right arm of the rouge Beast King explains his admiration for how humanity has evolved on its own and that he wants to ensure their survival as they will remain utterly oblivious to their sudden extinction. The Half-Demon Princesses go to warn Moe Higurashi of the danger she is in, but she brushes it off and performs as the violinist. Stuck in the rift between the feudal and modern eras, Kirinmaru orders his right arm to lead there as hordes of demons attack. At night, the Half-Demon Princesses and Osamu prepare to fight as the Grim Comet finally reveals itself.

In the modern era, the Half-Demon Princesses and Osamu try their best to obliterate the Grim Comet, but it is far too vast and powerful. Osamu plunges right into its heart and discovers its true self as a pale blue glowing substance. Once declaring that he eradiate all demons, Kirinmaru's additional incarnation manages to use his mighty demonic powers to make the Comet follow him all the way to the feudal era in order to fulfill Kirinmaru's wish in destroying it. Osamu finally meets his other half in the flesh and shows the Beast King images of the modern world certain that Rion would love them. As hordes of demons keep appearing the attack, Priestess Kaede is still able to hold her own against them for awhile with Inuyasha, Kagome Higurashi and Shippō as back up. Miroku manages to purify several hordes with his immensely stronger Buddhist/spiritual powers as Sango exterminates another with her Black Hiraikotsu, which is strong enough to purify evil demonic energies as it has been infused with Kin'u's own developing Buddhist powers. Having finally reached Mount Musubi, Rion asks for it to infuse her with the vast mystical strength of the Kyūyōkon Root. Riku gives her the apple seed her kept since his first meeting with Towa, which grows into an apple tree that leaves one glowing green apple that Rion takes with her. Still within the Sacred Tree of Ages, a worried Rin is wiping her Sesshōmaru's brow as she prays for Towa and Setsuna's safety. Back in the modern era, the Half-Demon Princesses realize that since Osamu intends to wipe out all demons, which means that Sesshōmaru and Inuyasha are in danger. They ask the Sacred Tree of Ages to open the gateway to the past, but it does not answer.

The Half-Demon Princesses decide to ask next morning for the Sacred Tree of Ages to open its gateway to the feudal era, so they can help their fathers, in case Osamu targets them. Sōta tells Towa that he will always think of her as his biological daughter, and that the decade they had together was the joyous years of his and Moe's lives. Towa assures a weeping Mei that she will remember her always. Moe tells Setsuna to keep it up with the violin, which the half-demon girl promises. Akuru then appears to open the portal on the Sacred Tree's trunk, albeit with some difficulty, but sadly fades away from entering his time-based powers. Mei assures Towa that she will no longer cry, and that the half-demon girl does not need to worry about her anymore. As the portal closes, Moe assures her husband that they will someday see them again, which Sōta agrees. Back in the feudal era, the Half-Demon Princesses are shocked at just how massive and imtinidating the Grim Comet become. Towa wonders exactly what her homeroom teacher is after, as Inuyasha and Kagome arrive to inform their daughter and twin half-nieces that demons has been being absorbed into the true form of the Grim Comet: the Grim Butterfly! Osamu senses the presence of Riku, his "younger brother" as both are Kirinmaru's incarnations, and prepares to achieve his ultimate goal. As Riku holds off demons, Rion approaches her father who is asleep after fighting Osamu. Seeing this as an opportunity, Rion holds the Kyūyōkon apple to surpress Kirinmaru's immense demonic powers, but is approached by Osamu. He expresses his happiness at finally meeting her, reminding her that he is the right arm that Tōga of the West had cut off six centuries ago. He assures Rion that he will help her construct a peaceful world, in which she no longer have to suffer. Conflicted, Rion allows Osamu to fly off with her, and they become linked with the Grim Butterfly via threads of fate, a feat that will ensure Osamu's immortality. He offers Riku the same, but he declines as it is not what he desires to achieve, even for Towa's sake. Having regained conscious, Kirinmaru witnesses Rion being absorbed into the Grim Butterfly and flies to tear it open in a desperate attempt to reach his beloved daughter. Kohaku arrives to give Towa a genuine Kikujūmonji, which can repel evil spirits, and leaves with his nephew Hisui. Within the Sacred Tree of Ages, Sesshōmaru finally awakens and exits the Tree with Rion, only to encounter Kirinmaru who desires to finally settle their duel. Sesshōmaru tells his wife to watch him as he fights the rouge Beast King of the East, to which Rin asures her mighty demon husband that she will not back away.

Towa regains her demonic abilities and takes back the almighty Zanseiken from her homeroom teacher, ultimately defeating him. She and Riku go to backup Moroha and Setsuna, who are still dealing with the multicolored threads of fate that prevents them from coming any closer to Rion. With each thread cut, the Half-Demon Princesses hear the deep bitter resetment Rion has been harboring towards Kirinmaru all along for never truly listening to what she had wanted. Towa is determined to save Rion with the Zanseiken, again disregarding her twin sister's warnings of her kon being drained away due to its curse. Outside, the Grim Butterfly manages to overcover the vastly powerful spiritual shield Miroku and Kagome had erected as Sesshōmaru and Kirinmaru continue to duel with the title of "the strongest demon" on the line. Kirinmaru suddenly recalls the true reason why he lost Rion.
