Yeh Vaada Raha (ये वादा रहा: It's a promise) is a Hindi-language Indian television drama series that aired on Zee TV from September 21, 2015 to 20 January 2017 at 10pm. It is where the main characters, Karthik and Survi were shown in their previous birth and they are now reborn as Karthik and Survi. The show initially focussed on the love story of Survi (Sonal Vengurlekar and Karthik (Ankush Arora). However the show then took an eight-year leap after Survi's death and her daughter, Khushi, who was seven years old, has grown up (also led by Sonal Vengurlekar) and marries Abeer (Zain Imam), the new male lead of the show.[1]

Premise[]

The show started off with the story of its main protagonists, Survi Mohite and Kartik Barve. After a generation leap, it focused on the love story of their daughter, Khushi, and Abeer Dharmadhikari.

Plot[]

Survi, aged 9 is mature and responsible, raised by her single father, Shrikant. Kartik, aged 19 is impulsive and childish. In an unfortunate event, the police shoots Kartik's uncle Digambar to death, whose evil wife Kamla blames Shrikant and vows revenge. Forcibly, Shrikant moves to Dubai with Survi. Kartik promises Kamla that he will take care of her family.

4 years later[]

Rich, Kartik decides to bring Survi as he always had great respect for Shrikant who he promised to care for her. Survi learns that Kamla only wants Kartik's property. Kamla says Survi that she will harm Kartik if she not leave. Survi agrees and leaves. Kartik's mother Lata discovers Kamla's truth. Kamla pushes her off the roof and frames Survi. Blindly believing her, Kartik starts hating Survi.

8 years later[]

Grown-up, Survi is a nurse. Kartik is a cold-hearted alcoholic due to her so-called betrayal. Survi needs money for Shrikant's surgery and meets Kartik who lets her stay but treats her badly. Kamla's son Aniket falls in love with Survi. Kartik finds out Survi was innocent and realises he loves her. Survi announces to marry Aniket, but he runs away. Kartik weds her to protect her dignity.

Survi exposes Kamla. Kartik kicks off her out but gives all his property to her. He starts to work as a mechanic. Survi finds out she is pregnant. Later, Kamla pretends to have lost her memory. Survi gives birth to Khushi. Kamla kidnaps Khushi. Kartik and Survi separate, presuming Khushi dead. On a train, one of the kidnappers hands Khushi to Survi. She adopts her, unaware she is her biological daughter.

7 years later[]

Khushi lives with Survi and runs into Kartik, who bonds with her. Kamla finds out Khushi is their real daughter, and decides to use her for creating rift between them. Khushi's identity come out as Kartik and Survi argue. The three reunite. Kamla is arrested but vows vengeance. Later, she escapes and makes Kartik mentally challenged.

Kartik is revealed to have a twin brother Krishna, who creates problems on his return. Stressed with Survi and Kartik, Kamla tries to kill them. All family members except Khushi die. Kamla stabs Survi who is hospitalised. Khushi promises Survi that she will take care of the mentally deranged Kartik. Survi falls to her death.

15 years later[]

Grown-up, Khushi takes care of Kartik. She clashes with Abeer Dharmadhikari. Goons catch her. They land up in a village. There to give villagers belief of them being fiancés, Abeer kisses Khushi. They're forced to marry there. His parents refuse to accept Khushi. She and Abeer fall in love. Kamla returns for revenge, but is arrested again. Khushi finally gets accepted by her in-laws.
