Yeh Zindagi Hai (Urdu: یہ زندگی ہے, lit. 'This Is Life') is a Pakistani Urdu language comedy-drama television series, that premiered on Geo Entertainment in 2008. It initially starred Javeria Saud, Saud, Moammar Rana, Hina Dilpazeer, and Sana in prominent roles. The series became one of the longest-running television series in the history of Pakistani television, and ran for six and a half years until its end in late 2013. Yeh Zindagi Hai became hugely popular since its inception, and made the leading actress Javeria Saud an overnight star.[1] The series took frequent time leaps during its run. It completed more than 300 episodes. It also rerun on Geo Kahani.

Background[]

The story is about a middle-class family. Saeeda and Bano are sisters who are living together with their children. Saeeda has two daughters named Hajira and Jameela and a stupid son named Bhola who marries with their neighbor's daughter named Nargis without taking permission from any one. Hajira was angered due to not marrying. Bano has only a son named Jamal. Jamal likes Jameela since childhood, Jameela gives, she falls in love with Momi. Saeeda asks Jameela for dowry for Hajra's wedding, to that Jameela expresses great anger.

Jamila's love[]

Sana's (a women whose son takes tuition from Jameela) son disclosed the affair between Momi and Jameela hence, Jameela is fired from the tuition.

Jamila's TV working[]

Jameela contacts Majid's friend Kamal who works at a TV channel; due to this a misunderstanding develops in the house, and Jameela leaves. Kamal takes her to a Kotha rather than to a TV channel.

In the Kotha A supervisor was an angry woman and she said to Jamila that she would never go back home as one who came here has no door to return .

Entrance of Shirazi[]

There she meets Shirazi who came to see the mujra. Shirazi is a rich business man and have business in Dubai and Pakistan. He also have a daughter named Jannat. Jannat is raised by Shirazi Aunt named Sultana. He helps her to escape from that Kotha.

Jamila's return at home[]

Jamila thanked Shairazi for helping him . As she was out from home for so many days his Family was thinking that Jamila has ran from the home with someone. Shairazi takes Jamila to Jamila s house .As they see Jamila with Sherazi. They said her go away and why you have come back. Due to bad situation Shairazi lies that he has marry Jamila .Jamila s mother beat her when she listen this. Jamila felt on Shairazi s Arm. Shairazi takes her with him in his car while Jamal was seeing Jamila going from there in Shairazi s car. He said That I was saying that no need was to go there. They will not believe you

Jamila and Shairazi's wedding[]

Shairazi takes Jamila to her home and said to Sultana that today she is a guest and from tomorrow she will be the owner of this house . Jamila was surprised to see too much huge house . Shairazi introduced Jamila about Sultana and her daughter Jannat . Jamila was unhappy and confused that will she marry Shairazi or not. Sultana convinced her. Stellsultana tells Jamila that 1 year ago Shairazi s wife had died and he is a very kind man nandd she should marry her. Then Sultana said to Shairazi that take some time in marriage as every girl have some thoughts about shopping and arrangements of marriage and then Shairazi agrees to her. Jamila was at the terrace she listened half of their talk and say that what need was there to delay their marriage as now she was happy to marry Shairazi by seeing his too much money. He said to Shairazi that why Sultana was saying this..I think that she don't want you and me to be married. He said you have listened half of our talk and he explained actually what Sultana was saying. He gave him money for shopping now she began to do pride (Urdu: Garoor). She went to shopping mall then first time she see a mall and was very happy. Then after some days they get married.

Death of Nargis child/ Divorce Of Jamila[]

Nargis lost her child because of Hajira; that's why her mother takes her back. Shirazi also fed up with Jameela's behavior. He is informed about the affair of Jameela and Jamal through Bhola; he divorces her. Jameela blames her mother for this. Saeeda is trying for Bhola's second marriage but Nargis comes back to him

Jamila s Second marriage with Jamal[]

Jamal does the drama to marry with his stepmother's daughter Pinky. Pinky advises him to marry Jameela. Hajira gets married with Majid; after Hajira's marriage Saeeda feels Jameela's pain. Jamal proposes to Jameela; she tells him about the entire story including Kotha and married life with Shirazi. Jamal realizes that how selfish and senseless they were. Jameela agrees for marriage after many hindrances. Soon Jamal really marries Pinky .

Then Jamal and Jamila have afight and Jamal leaves home and went to live with Pinki.

People on Rent[]

Then beside way was the story of people ,living in upper floor of Saeedas house on rent. They were two woman s named as Hazoori begun who came from a mehal and her sister Dil Araam with their mother's brother named Mammon Hazoor. Then there was story of poor condition of all people and sadnesses of Saeeda and the rent people.

Shairazi to marry Dil Aram/Jamila to re-marry Shairazi[]

As now Shairazi and Jamila were alone , Jamila was expecting She said that or ten good future of my child , I will take divorce from Jamal and re marry Shairazi. As he helps Jameela and his family. She went to his house and said I want to say something special At the same time Shairazi also said I also want to say something special. Jamila says that you say first .Shairazi was also saying that you say first She said I can't say you read this meanwhile He don't sees Jamila hand and speaks that I want to marry Dil Araam , so the paper threw of her hand and she went home empty handed with sadness .

Love of Dil Araam[]

Then there was sad story of Dil Araam. His lover has go away leaving her alone and he came back and say that he is sorry and said he want to marry Dil Araam. Saeeda convinces her to marry his lover. She agrees and marry him. At the day of marriage of Dil Araam .Shirazi was also there and all were happy and then she went with him.

Back of Hazoori Begum and Mamoon Hazoor[]

After Dil Araams marriage Hazoori and Mamoon Hazoor go back to live somewhere else .

Episodes 100 - 135[]

Jamila's son (Bhola) grows up to become a taxi driver while Pinky's son (kamal) grows up to become a popstar.

Yeh Zindagi Hai aired every Sunday at 09:00 P.M on Geo TV. Yeh Zindagi Hai was also aired by Sony Entertainment Television Asia, from November 2009, every Sunday, 8.00 P.M.

Reception[]

The series became popular due to the on-screen chemistry of real life couple Saud and Javeria Saud.[2] Initially, the series was praised for its unique plot and ensemble cast, but over the years, the series ultimately received criticism due to its unrealistic and melodramatic tracks. In an interview with The Nation, on being asked that whether the popularity of the show lessened with time, actress Javeria Saud commented, ''It is not that its popularity lessened with time. In this era in which we run after ratings and where dramas are turned down if they do not bring the required rating, Yeh Zindagi Hai continued to run for six and a half years at prime time. This is a proof of its consistent popularity.''[3]

Controversy[]

In the mid of July 2020, Salma Zafar (Saeeda) revealed in a 35 minute long video that her payment around 1 crore is due on JJS Productions (Javeria and Saud production house) and they denied clearing her dues. Salma also claimed that there are many artists and technicians from "Yeh Zindagi Hai" and "Yeh Kaisi Mohabbat Hai" who haven't been paid yet for their work. After her revelation, Sherry Shah (Pinky) came in Salma's support, asking Javeria and Saud to clear her dues approx 90 lacs. However, Noman Habib (Bhola.Jr) denied saying that all his dues from JJS Productions are clear.[4]

Artists namely; Aly Khan and Sangeeta supported Javeria and Saud saying that their work experience with JJS has been good.
