Yingshi University (Traditional Chinese: 英士大學, Simplified Chinese: 英士大学), was a defunct university of Zhejiang Province, China.

Brief history[]

At beginning, the university was a war-period university during the Second Sino-Japanese War. During the war time, the Zhejiang Provincial Government founded the university in November 1938, and formally opened it to the public in Feb 1939.

1939-1943, it was a Zhejiang provincial public university (省立英士大學). 1943, it was promoted to the status of National, namely National Yingshi University (國立英士大學), until its dissociation in 1949.[1]

August 1949, during the Chinese Civil War, the Jinhua Civic Military Control Committee (金華市軍管會/金华市军管会) controlled the university and further dissociated it. Many of its faculties joined the Zhejiang University, and most of its students who wanted to continue their educations were transferred into the Zhejiang University.[citation needed]
