Expansion plans[]

After its opening in 2001 construction began on a northwards extension, however in 2003 all work has been abandoned at 15% completion due to financial difficulties. The planned southwards extension which will see the line snake around the city centre's southeastern perimeter and then head eastwards has also been planned but never started.
