Zuğulba Presidential Palace (Azerbaijani: "Zuğulba" iqamətgahı) is the official suburban residence[1] of the President of Azerbaijan.[2] It is located in the village of Zağulba, 40 km from Baku near the Caspian Sea.[3]

History and description[]

It was built in 2008. In Soviet times, government dachas for leaders of the Azerbaijan Communist Party and the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic were located here.

The residence is located on the shores of the Caspian Sea and is intended for use during official meetings and events. Its architecture combines elements of Western architecture with the Azerbaijani national style.[4] Many foreign dignitaries have been received in the palace, such as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu,[5] Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko,[6][7] Russian Presidents Dmitry Medvedev[8] and Vladimir Putin,[9] Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili.[10]
