Zakia Hussein (Somali: Sakiya Xuseen, Arabic: زكية حسين), also known as Zakia Hussein Ahmed,[1] is a Somali politician. In August 2018, she became the first woman and youngest Deputy Chief of Somali Police Force.[2] Hussein has survived two assassination attempts.[3] She is the Secretary General of the Hanoolaato Party, a Somali youth advocacy group.[4] In June 2014, she was appointed the new Director of Community Policing at the Somali Police Force. The first woman in many years to hold a senior position within the SPF, she wa a full colonel and chief commander of community policing and public relations at the Mogadishu-based national agency. Zakia Hussein hails from the Surre sub-division of the wider Dir clan.[5] Additionally, she holds a British citizenship.[3]
