It publishes mainly textbooks for school, university and professional books (legal texts and medicine), dictionaries, reference books[1] and, to a lesser extent, essays and books of non-fiction and popular science.

History[]

The company was founded in Modena in 1859 by  [it].[1][2] It has been based in Bologna since 1866.[3] It was the first to translate into Italian Charles Darwin's On the Origin of Species (1864) and Relativity: The Special and the General Theory by Albert Einstein (1921).[4] Zanichelli also turned its attention to school. Starting in the 2010s, it integrated educational paper book production with digital multimedia tools.
