Zvezda po imeni Solntse (Russian: Звезда по имени Солнце, lit. 'A star called the Sun') is an album of the Soviet rock band Kino, released in 1989. It is notable for its mostly personal struggle-oriented lyrics and thoughtful, sad, lonely or sometimes sinister atmosphere. The cover art depicts a solar eclipse.

Release history[]

The album was first released in 1989 on cassette and reel-to-reel, sold at the band's concerts. It did not receive a proper release until 1993, when Moroz Records released it on vinyl. In 1995, the album was released in Germany on CD. The album received its first Russian CD release in 1996.^{[citation needed]}

In 2019, the original album was remastered and reissued by Maschina Records.^[2][3] Yuri Kasparyan, Igor Tikhomirov [ru], and Viktor Tsoi's son, Alexander, were involved in the production and approval process.^[4]
