The 1997–98 season, was the Guildford Flames' sixth year of ice hockey. The Guildford Flames competed in the British National League.[1]

The Guildford Flames won the Southern Conference and the British National League. The Flames also scored the most goals (98) and conceded the least (16) en route to the two-legged Christmas Cup Final against the Telford Tigers, which they lost 10-7 on aggregate. The season ended with the Guildford Flames being crowned Playoff Champions at the Finals weekend in Hull.

The season was also a success off the ice when the club gained increased media exposure with the launch of 'Inferno' a weekly television show that aired on ONTV CableTel. The show debuted at 6pm on Friday 9 January 1998.
