The 2022 Edmonton Elks season is scheduled to be the 64th season for the team in the Canadian Football League and their 73rd overall. The Elks will attempt to improve upon their league-worst 3–11 record from 2021, qualify for the playoffs, and win their 15th Grey Cup championship.[1]
The team's 2022 season will be the first under new head coach and general manager, Chris Jones.[2] The team's previous head coach, general manager, and president, Jaime Elizondo, Brock Sunderland, and Chris Presson, respectively, were fired following the 2021 season.[3]
Offseason[]
CFL National Draft[]
The 2022 CFL Draft is scheduled to take place in the spring of 2022.[4] Barring any trades, the Elks will have the first overall selection in the draft for the first time since the 2006 CFL Draft after finishing last in the league standings in 2021 (due to a tie-breaker with the Ottawa Redblacks).[5] The team will have eight selections in the eight-round draft if territorial selections are featured again.[6] The team traded a second-round pick to the Toronto Argonauts in exchange for Nick Arbuckle.[7]
