2C2P is a payments platform provider that works with global enterprises operating in emerging markets to accept payments across online, mobile and offline channels, as well as provide issuing, payouts, remittance and digital goods aggregation and reselling services.[2] It is headquartered in Singapore and operates across more than 20 countries globally.[3]

History[]

2C2P was founded in 2003 by Aung Kyaw Moe,[4][5][6][7] an entrepreneur based in Singapore and Thailand.[8] From Thailand, the company expanded to Singapore in 2007[9] and other markets across Asia and Europe and employs more than 400 employees in 10 markets.[10]

In 2009, 2C2P was awarded the Grand Prize of the Nokia Calling All Innovator 2009 in the Emerging Markets and Mobile Necessities category. In 2013, 2C2P ranked 100th in Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Awards, which recognised the fastest growing regional technology companies.[11][12][13] In 2015, it was named as one of the top 25 payment startups by CB Insights, alongside Square Inc., Stripe (company), and Adyen.[14] In 2021, 2C2P was featured in the Financial Times' top 500 Asia-Pacific High Growth Companies,[15] and was also listed in The Straits Times' 2021 fastest growing companies in Singapore.[16]

2C2P has received financial backing from venture capitalists Amun Capital, GMO Venture Partners[17] and Digital Media Partners.[18][19] To date, it has raised more than US$50 million with the latest funding round in 2019.[20]

In early 2020, 2C2P announced the launch of an investment arm called 2C2P.VC to accelerate the growth of its omni-channel payment platform.[21] In late 2020, it announced its logo and website refresh as part of its aim to expand globally.[22]

Products and services[]

2C2P enables its merchants to accept electronic payments, mobile payments, credit cards, and point-of-sale payments at more than 20 over countries.[23] Its services include payment processing and acquiring in some markets, issuing cards and wallets, processing mass payouts and cross-border remittances, and aggregating and selling digital goods and services.[24]

In terms of payment acceptance, it accepts over 250 payment methods and has an alternative payments network that extends to over 400,000 locations across Asia.[25] It provides customisable payment features such as card authentication, instalment payment options and currency converters.[26] For example, 2C2P's 3D Secure authentication technology is widely implemented by card issuing banks across Southeast Asia, and is responsible for over 85% of authentications in Thailand alone.[27][28]
